I’ve always loved making things and have been lucky enough to find myself utilizing both sides of my brain in the product design realm.
Before Nomad most fly fishing nets were made of wood. They were also expensive and prone to breakage and degradation. I knew this was the perfect application for composite construction and went for it.
I used to fish with my net tucked behind me lumbar pack. When I needed something out of the pack I had to swing the pack around and the net got in the way. I came up with the Switchback pack to solve the problem. Essentially the net stays behind your back and the pack slides on a “rail”.
I was looking at our Thunderhead submersible backpack and thought the bag would look great with a camo print. I designed Riverbed camo to look like water rippling over a river bottom.
